Sea Otter Awareness Week is scheduled for September 19-25, 2021. We hope that all of you intend to celebrate the mighty sea otter again this year!
You or your organizations may already have events and activities planned for SOAW. Or you might have communicated with a member of our planning team about participation ideas. Or SOAW might have slipped your mind altogether. Whichever category you’re in, we want to encourage your involvement in SOAW 2021.
As in past years, Defenders of Wildlife will host a SOAW web page with information about this year’s theme (“An Ecosystem Mosaic”), an events calendar, links to ottercams, and other resources (e.g., a social media toolkit, merchandise information) to help you plan your own activities, promote virtual and in-person events during the week, and share stories about sea otter conservation.
Two requests from the SOAW Organizing Team:
  1. Please share your scheduled activities and events (dates, times, titles, descriptions, virtual webinar registration information, etc.) so that they can be posted on the website. Any group/organization is welcome to organize a virtual talk by a researcher or conservationist on recent findings, new initiatives, etc.
  2. Please share this information with others at your organization who will play a role in your SOAW programming.
Send events to Andrew Johnson (johnson@defenders.org). Reach out to Andrew to be added to the SOAW mailing list and with any questions.
