California State Parks is taking you underwater for World Ocean Day with California State Park and Monterey Bay Aquarium scuba divers! We will be connecting students and park stewards virtually to Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, and other select parks throughout the state. Starting on June 7, we will be bringing our oceans straight into K-12 classrooms. California State Parks will be offering 3 special classrooms the opportunity to speak to divers privately while they are underwater in Whalers Cove at Point Lobos!

How do you get your classroom involved? Join the competition to create the official California State Park World Ocean Day logo! Top three winners will win a private video conference with the divers, and the grand prize winning logo will serve as the official logo for all of the California State Park World Ocean Day events.

But we aren’t stopping there. At 10:30am on June 7, we will go live with Flipgrid underwater! Flipgrid (a Microsoft product) is a video discussion platform for educators and their students, and connects students from all over the world to our live programs and curated content. On June 8, California State Parks will go live on Facebook and YouTube to connect viewers with divers and park presenters from all over California to emphasize the importance of protecting our lands, waters, and ocean and why it is relevant to all of us, no matter where we live.
