About this Project

An MPA Compliance Small Grant project of the Orange County MPA Council (OCMPAC) resulted in the creation of a sign featuring a blend of interpretive and regulatory information for estuary MPAs, which often overlap with Ecological Reserves. Modeled after the Good Tidepool Rules (aka Harry the Crab) MPA Sign, the sign shares guidelines for interacting responsibly with the protected estuary habitat. The template is available for adaptation in other areas. For customizable sign templates, reach out to the Collaborative Network’s South Coast Specialist (aubrie(at)mpacollaborative.org).

This project is part of the MPA Collaborative Networks’ multi-year MPA Compliance Initiative and was entirely driven by local input through the Community Compliance Forums held in 2020 and subsequent collaborative meetings. It was made possible by a grant made through the Once-Through Cooling program of Resources Legacy Fund, on behalf of the Once-Through Cooling Interim Mitigation Program of the Ocean Protection Council.
