If so, we need your help!
We are seeking community members to help us identify best practices for developing and reviewing signage translations in Orange County’s common languages.
The Orange County Marine Protected Area Council (OCMPAC) has received funding from Resource Legacy Foundation to work with community members to develop a new process to evaluate tidepool and Marine Protected Area (MPA) signs, translations, messaging, and materials locally.
During the second phase of this project, we are looking for at least two volunteers each who speak Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, and Tagalog to help us review/pilot translated MPA materials and figure out best approaches for community vetted translations!
This will require about 3-4 hours of time—one 90-minute meeting during July/August, and 1-2 hours apart from meeting times to review translated signs and messaging. Participants will receive a $250 stipend. Meeting times and dates are flexible, and we are happy to work with your availability.
People with limited or no scientific knowledge about MPAs are highly encouraged to participate!
